It was a new chapter for all of the freshmen this year who overcame a challenging moment for all. There was growth and new things to learn on the way to officially being in high school. From transitioning to what was known as the “top of the school” to then being known at the bottom of the chain again. The responsibilities and impacts that were made along the way through the year has been a lot to take in. The end is so close and everyone should be so proud of this new accomplishment.
Nyeli Diaz, a freshman, has felt there was a huge shift between grade 8 and now. Whether this was physical attributes or a plain mindset, this could act in positive and negative ways. At the end of grade 8, everything still felt more familiar and comfortable after knowing what has gone down, but once reaching high school, it all feels independent. High school brings more of a responsibility upon students, along with the harder classes that are being taken. “I feel as if there is a sense of growth, and becoming more confident in figuring out things on my own as well as who I am as a person,” Nyeli reassured.
Preston Jones, another freshman, brought up field trips and how fun they were, compared to high school. He was just offered field trips for the two classes he takes, and it reminds him of middle school. When deciding if he prefers ending freshman year 8 grade, he feels that the end of 8 grade was a bit better. “I liked how we did more activities and fun events towards the end of the year,” Preston clarified.
When students or anyone for that matter have to go through change, it can be nerve racking and people may not want to. It is best to let life go as it is and see how much somebody can grow as a person to prepare for the other circumstances.
