Freshmen come every year scared of the new building they are entering. All of us were freshmen once, and students wished they had helpful tips shared with them to make the first couple weeks go more smoothly.
Cheyenne Kline states that when she was a new freshman, she wished she knew that if students have lunch A and students have 6th period study hall, students go to study hall first and then lunch B. She said this because during her first couple weeks here at the high school she did not know this and went to her normal lunch A.
Raya Ruppert said that something she wished she knew was when students are in the auditorium in the morning, they can not stand up until the bell rings for homeroom, and if they do they will get in trouble by the proctors in there at that time.
My advice for the upcoming freshmen is to have an agenda to write down what classes students have homework in because there is way more homework than there is in middle school but not that much that students can not handle. Another thing I would think is helpful is to have the map of the school. Students may think they will look stupid carrying it around but for the first couple days it is very helpful.
Starting high school can feel overwhelming, but with the right mindset, guidance, and preparation, it can also be an exciting new chapter in students’ lives. Good luck class of 2030!
