Hamburg Area High School’s class of 2026 is officially less than a month away from graduating, and, delighted to say, highlights were abundant, and experiences that made the years of high school experiences to enjoy were certainly one of the most memorable topics for our seniors to discuss.
One of the things that stood out most after asking the seniors about their most memorable experiences was the school’s heavily prioritized athletics department, with many students saying they “enjoyed the football games” mainly because it acted as a time where friends and family could meet and relax, eat good food, and spend a night out supporting the school.
One of our seniors, Raynee Dunleavy, said that it was not the events, rather “it’s the people that I met that made high school a lot more fun, and it made high school go by way faster,” also stating “you don’t realize how much time you spend with the same group of friends until it’s almost over.”
Clubs and extracurricular activities also ranked high on the list, whether it was the music department performing in concerts, our sports teams competing, or just staying after school for something they actually chose to be a part of, like theatre and musical.
As graduation approaches this year, there is a clear showing of excitement and hesitation. Hamburg Area High School’s seniors are most definitely ready to move forward in life, but not without fully acknowledging the people and things they are leaving behind. The class of 2026 is not just graduating with diplomas; they are leaving with inside jokes, familiar classrooms and hallways, and a variety of memories that, for better or worse, made high school exactly what it was.
