Looking back this year, I feel incredibly grateful for everything I experienced as an exchange student. This year was more than just school; it was about people, memories, and feeling at home in a completely new place.
I especially want to thank the people in my first period class – Molly, Kaylea, Reiley, Analia, Reese and Lina. You made my start every day so much better. Your energy, kindness, and conversations always helped me feel comfortable and happy in the mornings. I also want to thank the people in my second and seventh periods. You made every day enjoyable, and I always felt accepted and included, which meant a lot to me.
A very special thank you goes to my host sisters Elaina and Angelica Hess. You are not just my host sisters anymore- you have truly become my real sisters and my friends. I have never felt this close to people my age before, and I could not be happier to call you my American sisters. You supported me in every situation, whenever it was something small or more difficult, and you were always there for me.
The entire Hess family made this year unforgettable. From the very beginning, It felt more than welcome. But most of all, I want to thank my American parents, Tammy and Henry Hess. You decided to take me in after knowing me for only ten days and gave me the chance to live here for a whole year. You made one of my biggest dreams come true, and I do not know how I will ever be able to thank you for that. You treated me like your own daughter, and I cannot describe how much that means to me. Every day with the Hess family was an adventure, and that is what made it so special.
This year in America and at Hamburg Area High School has been one of the best experiences of my life. From school days to activities and all the small everyday moments, everything became part of something unforgettable. I also want to thank my teachers for their support, patience, and understanding. They helped me adjust to a new system and always made me feel comfortable in class.
Overall, this year changed me in the best way. It gave me new friendships, a second family, and memories I will carry with me forever. I will always be thankful for this experience and for the people who made it so special.
