On April 9 from 6:30-8:30 pm, Hamburg’s library hosted their Java Jam night. There were 30 performances that night, which was run by Mr. Laughlin and Mr. Haegle. Michael Clancey was the emcee for the night. Leo Club also sold drinks and snacks, raising over $60 for their club..
Landon Poulios, one of the performers that night, said, “It was so fun” and he sang Be Wherever You Are from Steven Universe because he loves Steven Universe. Then he sang The Hand with Iris Seveland because he wanted to help back his girl Iris. Then he sang Should I Stay Or Should I Go with Alondra and he found it pretty cool that they could show the Spanish part of the song. He hopes that “more people are respectful during the performances in the future, like having theatre etiquette” and he wants more people to come next year.
Sid Bonning, another performer that night says that it was a great night, though they were much more lenient on the song choices this time around. There were many things that were not allowed in previous years.
Mr. Haegle said that they will not be changing much for next year, but they will be “limiting people to one solo song and one duo song for singing” since many people sang multiple times, which made people stay later. He also hopes him and Mr. Laughlin can work out a possible outdoor Java Jam with s’mores. The next Java Jam is September 17, and there may be a second one in the fall, as Mr. Laughlin is unable to do one in the spring because of musical pit.
