Over the years, the joy for people to build LEGO sets has really gone up due to all of the new and intense kits. Every year, LEGO releases many new sets in January, like character, themed, botanical, architectural, and historical sets. A lot of people have building blocks growing up that mesmerize them, and for some, it sticks with them, and they gradually upgrade difficulties as they grow up.
Senior, Bethany Stufflet, started building LEGO sets around the age of eight. She started with the LEGO Friend sets, which she would build and then play with afterwards. Over time, she got more into the botanical and practical sets. She has flower, plant, and animal sets. Currently, she likes the show-themed sets due to all of the detail that is put into them. When she builds LEGO sets, she likes to put a show or movie on in the background. Once she is done, she hopes that she has a place to store them.
A 2015 Hamburg graduate, Damian Ulrich, has also been building LEGO sets since he was eight. He started young with large building blocks, but one of his first real sets was a Harry Potter Goblet of Fire set. Over the years, he has built multiple varieties of sets, and his favorite are the architecture sets, as they give him a chance to view a place in the world that he might not get to see. He also enjoys his Disney World castle replica, as he has always been a LEGO and Disney fan, so it combines two of his favorite things. His dream set, though, is the Titanic replica. It gives the builder the ability to take the ship apart in three spots to see how the ship was built in real life, but the only downside to the set is that it is quite expensive. Building LEGO sets for him is therapeutic, as he can follow the directions and challenge himself at the same time to see how fast he can finish a large set. He puts either a movie or music on in the background that he tries to match to the set he is building. Once he is done with a certain set, he buys light kits that he then puts throughout the entire built set, which he did with his Disney Castle.
LEGO sets are something that people of all ages enjoy, not just kids or teenagers. They make for a peacful down time where someone can unwind and keep their fingers and mind busy. A fun LEGO fact is that the plural form of LEGO is LEGO.
