On Saturday, November 13, students at Hamburg Area High School were offered a trip to New York City organized by the Sports Booster Club. The bus left to depart at 7 AM, and arrived back at the school at midnight. Here is what some of the students said about their overall experience with the trip out of state, and into NYC.
Freshman Karly MacBride said that the trip was pretty good and went to see a musical at an off Broadway theater, then went to get food, and also at some point visited the LEGO store. What Karly did not enjoy about the trip was that it felt a little bit too long, but this trip has made Karly want to visit New York City again, the reasoning being that there were lots of things that Karly wanted to try out, but the lines everywhere were too long. If Karly had to pick another place to see if another trip was organized by the Sports Booster Club, it would be Washington D.C., since Karly remembered finding it enjoyable during the trip in Grade 7, and wants the chance to see D.C. again.
Freshman Sophia Kramer says that overall, the trip for her was pretty fun, since she has always wanted to visit New York City. On her trip, she went shopping to places like F.A.O Schwarz, the Lego, Nintendo, and M&M Store, Sephora, Magnolia Bakery, and Carlo’s Bakery, saw a majority of the common Christmas-related tourist attractions, took lots of pictures, and went to many different places to try the food. She also visited places like the tree at the Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Times Square, and Bryant Park. Sophia said that what she did not like was that since it was Christmas time, there were way more people than usual, which made the streets even more crowded. Despite this, the trip did make her want to visit New York City again, due to her enjoying the food, stores, and the overall atmosphere of the city. If the Sports Booster Club organized another trip, she would want it to be in New York City again, as she wants to do some of the things she had to miss out on, and the fact that she really enjoyed the city as a whole.
