Music can help students focus when completing homework. Homework can be challenging or even a hassle to complete, as sometimes it feels like the workload will never end. Yet, music is always there to help keep the mind focused on the jams and homework.
Student Rileyanne Fisher explained, “Yes, I listen to music while I do work because having background noise helps cancel out outer distractions and helps me focus on what I am working on.” Sometimes it feels like the world is too loud, and it seems impossible to drown out the noise while doing homework, as everybody is talking or children are screaming. However, music can be controlled through volume, making it easy to block out distractions.
Personally, I love music in general, as my AirPods are in my ears 9 times out of 10. Because of this, I enjoy listening to music while completing homework since it helps me focus much more. Distractions are not much of a bother for me, as I tend to get distracted whether I am doing homework or not. Regardless of how students complete their homework, as long as the assignment is turned in on time, the use of background noise should not affect performance.
