One of the first names that comes to mind when people think of classic folk rock is Bob Dylan. Arguably one of the most influential musicians of the sixties, Bob Dylan started his career by dropping out of college in Minnesota and moving to New York City. Over the course of the last 60 years, he has put his stamp on the music scene with his selfmade music and his writing credentials. While people know the songs that Dylan sings, they may not know some of the biggest songs that he has writing credits on which include Make You Feel My Love by Adele and All Along The Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix. On October 31, 2025 Bob Dylan released a new box set titled, “The Bootleg Series Vol 18: Through The Open Window, 1956-1963.” Looking back on the start of his career and reviewing his music, going through decade by decade and unpacking his career. I truly think that without his influence on the industry today we would not have some of the artists that we do. The new box set includes 48 never before seen performances from his early career as well as “first” recordings and a recording of his Carnegie Hall concert.
