On Saturday April 14, 2018 one of Hamburg Area High Schools own, Dominic Lombardo, competed in the Four Way Speech contest Districts. When asked why he wanted to compete in the competition he stated that he wanted to raise awareness on the impact that opioids are having on this society. He wanted to educate the audience how to get help with this addiction. Lombardo felt that we as a society are helping the problem or are we making it worse. One message Lombardo would give to a teenager struggling with an opioid addiction would be, “Don’t hide it. Reach out to your family and get help so you can live a good and happy life.” Lombardo did not win but he says that winning was not his goal. He merely wanted to educate the people on the hazards of opioid addiction.

Don’t hide it. Reach out to your family and get help so you can live a good and happy life
