During the month of January, I was able to start the book called The Wolf King. I had gotten it for Christmas and was excited to read it along with my step-sister. This book was self-published by the author before a publisher took hold of the story. The Wolf King is also part of a trilogy, which The Wolf King is the title of the first book in the series.
The book is about a princess named Aurora who lives in the human kingdom with her father, the king of the humans. The humans are at war with werewolves, and so the first book dives into the story and backstory of the war between these two kingdoms. Aurora is set to marry a man who is friends with her father. One thing the story does not have that may cause issues for readers is that the story does not include a map of the world, so it will be hard to understand locations in the story.
The author does a great job with including accents in her writing as well. Due to how she writes dialogue, the reader can tell some of the characters have Scottish accents. The author also does a good job with including cultures in her writing as well. The male characters in her book wear kilts which is a sign that the characters have a Scottish heritage. The representation of different cultures in her story gives each character their own personality and their own characteristics that give the story life.
For those interested in reading this story, check out The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman. The next book in the series is named The Night Prince. The third book is not released yet and will not be published until next year. If a person is interested in reading this series, please keep in mind that the third book is yet to be published.
