If you like movies that are full of secrets and suspense, The Housemaid is one that will keep viewers watching. Sydney Sweeney stars in this thriller about a woman who takes a job working for a rich family, hoping for a fresh start. But things inside the house are not as perfect as they seem, and she soon realizes something is very wrong.
The movie slowly builds tension and keeps viewers guessing about who can be trusted. With creepy moments and strong acting, especially from Sweeney, The Housemaid shows how a normal situation can turn into a dangerous one. This review will look at how the story creates suspense and whether the twists make the movie worth watching. On Rotten Tomatoes, The Housemaid holds a generally positive critics score with around 75–78% “fresh” reviews, meaning most professional critics enjoyed it in some type of way. It’s entertaining with the highlighted thrilling performances from Amanda Seyfried. Fellow junior, Koa Binder, explained how she greatly enjoyed this movie. She explains how her interest is based upon thrilling love stories. She says, “I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie because I couldnt tell what was going to come next.” A local, Samantha, says “I saw this movie with my boyfriend, and I felt no shame watching these powerful women give men a taste of their own medicine.”
It was most definitely a women driven film, even from the beggining. At the start it does get confusing because the wife and maid are completely against eachother, but the table most definitely changed. Kaylea Detweiler says, “There was no other option for how it would have ended. I usually fall asleep at movie theaters but I was wide awake the whole time.”
