Every year, right around the time Halloween goes on clearance, a major debate breaks out: When is it acceptable to put up Christmas decorations? Should families wait until after Thanksgiving, or is it totally fine to start hanging lights the moment the calendar hits November?
Sophia Kramer is a freshman, whose family is fully committed to the early Christmas lifestyle. She said her family decorates before Thanksgiving, and she totally agrees with that. According to Sophia, “You can never decorate too early for Christmas”, and honestly, she may be right because she says the decorations and music bring her joy. Twinkly lights and Christmas music can make November feel a lot more cheerful.
Olivia Kauffman is a junior, whose family waits until after Thanksgiving, but she strongly disagrees with that plan. She thinks Christmas should basically start on November 1. Halloween ends, pumpkins go out, and boom, Christmas mode activated.
The verdict is that decorating early is clearly popular for some because it brings joy and excitement. Whether the tree goes up on November 1, the day after Thanksgiving, or even Christmas Eve, the important thing is that it brings happiness.
