RuPaul’s Drag Race is a reality competition show about drag queens from across America competing to become America’s Next Drag Superstar. It is hosted by RuPaul, arguably the world’s most famous drag queen, with regular guest judges Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, and Ross Matthews. The show began in 2009 on Logo and in 2019 it is entering its eleventh season and has moved to VH1. Drag Race has become immensely popular in recent years, winning a total of 9 Emmy awards.

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 has an all-star cast, including the likes of Vanessa Vangie Mateo returning from season 10. Vanessa’s exit on the first episode of season 10 where she walked back and repeated the phrase “Miss Vangie,” became a hugely popular internet meme for the following months.

Other standouts include Silky Nutmeg Ganache whom fans are already madly in love with after seeing press interviews. Other queens like Plastique Tiara and Soju already have massive followings. Soju has a YouTube show called Shout with Soju where she reviews every episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, whereas Plastique Tiara has a massive Instagram following.

Yvie Oddly is the resident weirdo of the season. She is based in Denver, and describes herself as “Denver’s commodity of drag oddity.” Another well-known queen is Ariel Versace, with an Instagram following of just over 175 thousand. The cast includes 15 queens who can all be found on RuPaul’s Drag Race’s official Instagram account.

Mikayla Slichter is a fan of Drag Race and has been watching since Season 9 started airing in 2017. She got hooked on the show because of her close friends who encouraged her to start watching. “I thought it was an interesting premise for a show, so I started watching and immediately got hooked.” Mikayla says Drag Race includes three of her favorite things; fashion, makeup and comedy. Mikayla is, “very excited for Season 11. I love all the queens this year.” Vanessa Vangie Mateo is Mikayla’s pick to win.
