As the final, slim bit of the school year approaches, students of HAHS are already looking forward to what awaits them this summer and to the next year. For many seniors, graduation stood out as the biggest milestone in their high school journey, marking the end of years of work and dedication to focused classes and priorities. Alongside that, many students quoted that they were “looking forward to certain school events like May Day, as this would give us students something fun to look forward to instead of just sitting in a class all day.”
Other students claimed to be more focused on the change in their priorities that comes with the final months of the school year. With their schedules clearing up and becoming easier to manage with the burden of schoolwork slowly decreasing, students said they are “excited to focus more on sports and their careers.” At the same time, there is also a mutual anticipation to simply “get out of school once and for all” and “enjoy the summer for awaited vacations and plans.”
Beyond just events and the clearing up of many busy schedules, a lot of students are thinking about the people around them. “Hanging out with friends” and “making the most of the time left” have become a common theme in the responses received, especially as the year nears its finish. Whether it is celebrating the big, eventful moments or just appreciating the small, everyday ones, the final quarter of the school year feels so much less about stress and anxiety and more about making memories before everything changes once again.
