When the wrestling season ends, it might look like things slow down, but for girls wrestling, the work is just shifting into a new phase. Instead of matches and tournaments, the focus moves to offseason training, especially in the weight room after school.
During this time, athletes work on building strength, improving endurance, and fixing techniques that will help them in the next season. The weight room becomes a key part of getting better, even if there are no mats or competitions happening.
Offseason training is important because it helps wrestlers become stronger and more confident. Team captain Daisy Nemes encourages newer wrestlers to take advantage, saying, “This is where you really build who you are as a wrestler, every part matters, even when no one is watching.”
Wrestling is also a sport that welcomes beginners and helps athletes build both physical and mental strength over time. More girls joining by signing up during winter sports means a stronger team and better environment for everyone involved.
