We are recognizing sophomore Ana Smith for all of her hard work and involvement at our school. Ana is someone who truly represents what it means to be a Hawk through her positive attitude, strong academics, and dedication to sports and leadership.
Ana is currently in 10th grade and has been attending HAHS for 11 years. She is very involved in school activities. She plays three sports: field hockey, winter track, and softball. On top of that, she is also in Student Council and serves as the Vice President of her class. Balancing all of this is not easy, but Ana makes it look effortless.
When it comes to school, Ana really enjoys learning. She said, “When I am at school I enjoy learning, especially in AP Environmental Science.” She also shared that one of her favorite parts of school is spending time with her friends. “I also love seeing my friends and building strong friendships that will last forever.”
Ana takes her academics seriously and works hard to keep her grades up. She said, “I take pride in my grades but my biggest achievement is maintaining honor roll while playing three sports so far in my high school career.” Being able to stay on honor roll while playing three sports shows how responsible and dedicated she is.
When asked who inspires her the most, Ana talked about her field hockey coach. “My hockey coach, Coach Hannah, inspires me the most because she is so hardworking and always has a smile on her face. She also loves what she does, and I want to enjoy life just as much as her.” It is clear that Coach Hannah has had a big impact on Ana both as an athlete and as a person.
Even with a busy schedule, Ana makes sure to stay positive. She explained, “I stay positive by talking to my friends and family, self reflecting, and practicing gratitude to realize how lucky I am compared to others.” Her mindset helps her stay motivated and focused throughout the school year.
Ana also shared a fun fact about herself. “One fun fact about me is I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue in less than 20 seconds.” That is definitely something not everyone can do.
Lastly, Ana had an important message for other students. She said, “You aren’t alone and there is always someone to talk to.” Her advice shows how caring and supportive she is toward others in our school community.
Overall, Ana Smith is a great example of a hardworking and positive student at HAHS. We are proud to recognize her.
