Winter is one of those seasons people either love, hate, or feel stuck in the middle about. Some people enjoy the holidays and cozy clothes, while others struggle with the cold, stress, and lack of sunlight. After hearing different opinions, it is clear that winter has both good and bad sides, but for many, the negatives stand out more.
Reese Homan, a freshman, believes winter is the worst season. The cold weather, seasonal depression, and feeling overloaded with schoolwork make winter especially hard. Reese admits winter has its moments, but overall the stress and gloomy feeling outweigh the positives. Not surprisingly, Reese’s favorite season is fall, when the weather is cooler but not freezing and life feels more balanced.
Addison Lesher, a junior, also thinks winter is the worst. For her, the freezing temperatures and looking extra pale make winter uncomfortable. Instead, Addy prefers summer, when it is warm, bright, she can easily get tanned, and feel more confident and happy.
Jaxon Dunkle, a junior, however, has a more neutral view. He feels winter sits somewhere in the middle. While it is cold, he likes that he can bundle up in warm clothes and enjoy Christmas time. Even so, winter is not his favorite season, he prefers spring, when the weather warms up and everything starts to feel fresh again.
Overall, winter does not seem to win the title of “best season.” While it has positives like holidays and cozy vibes, the cold, stress, and seasonal depression make it the worst season for many people.
