Snow days used to mean having off from school, sleeping in, playing in the snow, and hanging out with friends. But things have changed in recent years. Schools have replaced snow days with virtual days. Students are now required to attend virtual classes all day. Now, students are split up on whether they like snow days or virtual days. Some like snow days, because they have off from school and can have a free day, while others like virtual days because they are easy and the days do not get made up.
Freshman Gunner Hornig prefers snow days because he is not good with online work, and he can have the day off. He has always liked snow days better. On virtual days, he eats a lot of food while he does his schoolwork, plays in the snow, and plays video games after that.
Freshman Briley Reinert prefers virtual days more because then she does not have to make up school, and it is easy to do. She used to prefer snow days because she used to have trouble doing her online classes. On a virtual day, she usually relaxes in her pajamas while she does her schoolwork.
Students usually pick their preference on if they prefer having off for a whole day and making it up later, or doing easy schoolwork and having off for a limited amount of time compared to what a traditional snow day offers. For some, doing their assignments on a computer is worth it if it means that they do not have to make it up later or add days to the year. For others, any schoolwork takes away from the fun they could have outside in the snow. Overall, whichever students prefer could shape if schools in the future want to keep virtual days or go back to the traditional snow days.
