From preschool to elementary, elementary to middle school, middle school to high school, then the last and final year. Friday October 17 on Hawk Hill is the HAHS senior night, where multiple seniors from the football team and cheer squad have their last and final home game under Friday night lights. Come support our Seniors at 6:30 as they walk the field for their last time. Come support the entire team and cheer squad at 7:00 for their last and final home game of the season. Our football seniors, John Sharp, Cayden Mason, Hayden Bell, Will Marchiano, Astian Reppert, Sawyer Smith, Ethan Horvath, Carter Doan, and Michael Smith, have played a long and hard season working harder every single day. We can not forget about Madeline Handwerk and Paige Cassler, who are the varsity cheer squad captains, who have also been working very hard toward their success as a squad.
Football senior John Sharp says that he is going to miss the team environment, brotherhood, and the bonds built over the season. His favorite memory from the season was coming back during the Hamburg vs Kutztown game leading to a victory. John plans to attend college at Kutztown University majoring in education. He thinks that the season could have gone better, but not everything works out the way they want it to.
Madeline Handwerk says that she is going to miss cheer more than anything. It is a huge part of her life and has been since she was a little girl. She is also going to miss the friends she has made along the way and her cheer coach. Maddie’s favorite memory was the homecoming fire truck parade. She thinks it brought all of the cheer squad together. After high school, Maddie plans to go to college to become an occupational therapy assistant. She is proud of how the fall season went. The cheer squad ultimately improved so much from start to finish and she is excited to see what they accomplish in the winter season.
Paige Cassler, who is also a varsity cheer captain, says that she is going to miss all the fun they have at practices and before games just being able to be kids. Her favorite memory was being co captain with maddie because they worked so hard throughout the years to get there. After graduation Paige is going to cosmetology school to hopefully work up to owning her own hair salon. Cassler also thinks that the season went okay. She thinks it could have gone a lot better but she thinks they could improve as a team. Overall, Sharp, Handwerk, and Cassler all agree that their seasons went well, but not as good as they could have been. They think there is room for improvement in certain categories but had fun building bonds with many. Congratulations to all the seniors and good luck for future years.
