Our school’s all-time rivalry against the Schuylkill Valley Panthers prevails every year no matter what sport is being played, but our school’s football team has one game that they enjoy the most and that is the Frost Bowl. Students and players enjoy the energy and the atmosphere of this rivalry every year and look forward to the game.
Mr. Hartranft, head coach of the team, told us that for the team it is fairly easy to get excited for playing in this game and players usually look forward to playing in it as they grow up in football. He shared that the energy is high that week of practice because the team knows just exactly what is coming. He shared that each week the team and the coaches want to win and that they will always want to, saying that “a big rivalry game keeps guys tighter” and that they all have the common goal of beating “the team down the street.”
Mr. Hartranft, said “the biggest thing to keep high energy from start to finish is trying to create competition around all year and keep that environment and to focus on the little things and to not fight complacently.” The team’s outcome was not as expected but the team continues to show up and ready for each other and for the spirit of the school and for everyone on a Friday night, keeping positive attitudes and high energy to win the game.
