As the end of the Hamburg Hawks field hockey season ended, some of the team members had some reflections on what they loved about the season and what kept them going. Ana Smith, a sophomore on the team who made Honorable Mention in All-Stars, said every game was her favorite part of her season and how the team “felt like a family” when playing each game against any team, easier or challenging. Ana’s favorite thing about field hockey is finding new skills to try and learn and also said “pushing herself to my limits” is something that really keeps her going all season. She wants to improve on her ball control and she noticed she needs to look up when passing more.
Kaida Chwatek, another sophomore, All-Division in All-Stars, shares that her favorite part of the season was the Berks Catholic game and the energy of it kept her pushing herself more. Kaida’s favorite things about hockey include bus rides with all her friends or just shooting around. She shared she needs to improve upon her footwork for the upcoming seasons.
Even though the team did not end the season the way they wanted, the team had a winning season with 12 wins and six losses. The team also had two All-Division players including Kaida Chwatek and Ali Wertz and three Honorable Mention players who included Ana Smith, Marci Dellamonica and Alaena Cox. The Hamburg team will continue to work each season to get to their end goal and continue to be positive and win as a team.
