As students move through high school, their daily routines and responsibilities can change a lot. To see how these experiences differ, both a freshman and a senior were asked the same set of questions about what a typical school day looks like, how they stay organized, and how their experiences compare across grade levels.
When talking with senior Madeline Handwerk, she shared that a typical week for her is packed with cheer practices and lots of homework. “I normally get lots of work each night,” she said. Staying organized is key, so she uses Google Keep to track assignment due dates. Even though handling all the work can be difficult, the thought of graduating soon helps her stay motivated. Looking back, Madeline admitted that her days now are much more stressful than they were as a freshman.
Freshman Noelle Bowen had a slightly different perspective. She described her week as “normally busy,” but she tries to stay on top of assignments each day so weekends are less overwhelming. Noelle stays organized by using a planner and completing tasks as soon as possible. When asked if she thinks her days will look different as a senior, she said yes, hoping for a less busy schedule and maybe a few study halls to make things easier.
From these interviews, it is clear that while both students face busy schedules, experience changes everything. Freshmen are still adjusting to high school life, while seniors are juggling heavier workloads and thinking about the future. Both, however, share one common goal, staying organized and doing their best to make it through each week.
