If anybody has been on the internet for a while, the name King Kylie might sound familiar. King Kylie is the fun, confident, and bold aesthetic that Kylie Jenner had been creating years back. King Kylie was known for her exotic bright hair colors, crazy outfits, and carefree attitude. She did not care what people thought, and that is what made it so iconic.
As time passed, Kylie grew out of it and moved on with her life to have two beautiful kids with the famous rapper Travis Scott. Even though it seemed like King Kylie was gone, she would still be brought up on social media. Now, years later, Kylie has decided to bring her back. Kylie announced her new makeup collection called “King Kylie,” that includes all different types of makeup that ties into the aesthetic of King Kylie.
Dakota Schneider, a Junior at Hamburg, loves King Kylie and had some things to say, “The prime King Kylie era was so iconic, the Tumblr core, Snapchat selfies, the teal hair, all of it. It was so chaotic but a huge culture shift and Kylie basically built a whole aesthetic that everyone copied for years. The King Kylie comeback feels like the fun, unserious internet again and I’m so excited to see it return.” Koa Binder also was so excited for this, she said “It is just so iconic, especially for the people who knew about it when it came out, this will save our society.”
Landon Poulis, another Junior at Hamburg, has a different opinion on the King Kylie return. He said “I didn’t even really know what it was at first, and now that I do know what it is.. I still don’t understand it. I personally think it’s just something celebrities do just so they can grab your attention. I like it if other people like it, it’s just not for me.”
I am personally so excited for this return; it reminds me so much of my childhood and being online as a kid. This is definitely a big move in pop culture, and I can not wait to see how it continues.
