Students from AP Environmental, AP Bio, and PS Environmental recently took a field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo on Friday, April 24, where they spent the day exploring exhibits, observing animals, and experiencing one of the nation’s oldest and most well-known zoos.
Jarrett Herman shared that he especially enjoyed seeing the wide variety of animals throughout the zoo. From exotic species to more familiar wildlife, the experience allowed students to observe animals they might not otherwise encounter up close.
Morgan Riegel also found the trip memorable, highlighting the monkeys and tigers as some of the standout exhibits. “I liked the monkeys and tigers and saw a lot of different animals,” Riegel said. She also noted that part of the bear exhibit was under construction, which limited access to that area but did not take away from the overall experience.
Throughout the day, students explored different sections of the zoo, learning about animal habitats, conservation efforts, and the importance of protecting wildlife. The Philadelphia Zoo is known for its focus on animal care and conservation, giving students insight into how zoos contribute to preserving endangered species.
Overall, the visit to the Philadelphia Zoo was a success, leaving students with new knowledge, lasting memories, and a greater appreciation for wildlife.
