Working at McDonald’s has honestly been a really fun experience for me and a lot of other students from Hamburg. I have been working there for over a year now. I usually work in the kitchen, but recently I have been working service a lot more and I actually really like it. I get to talk to more people and work with a bunch of friends from school, which makes shifts go by way faster. I think McDonald’s is a great first job because it is pretty easy to learn, the schedule is flexible, and everyone there gets along really well.
One of my coworkers is Kaylea Detweiler. McDonald’s was her first job too, and she has been working there since 8th grade. She is friends with basically everybody there and works really hard. She is even on track to become a manager when she turns 18, which she plans on doing while she is in college. She also works at Walmart, which shows how flexible the scheduling at McDonald’s can be. Even with two jobs, she is still able to balance everything.
Another coworker is Dakota Schneider, who has been working there for about a year. She says she likes the managers and likes how the environment is not super stressful. She also likes how flexible the schedule is because it helps students balance school and work. One thing she says is a really good perk is the free crew meal during shifts.
Overall, all of us agree that McDonald’s is a really good job for students starting out. We got to make new friends, learn how to work with people, and gain experience while still having fun. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for their first job.
