Many students at our school stay involved in different sports and clubs, and Ava Epting is one of them. Ava is being featured in this Student Spotlight because of her positive attitude and how active she is around the school.
Ava has been part of the Hamburg School District for a long time. She said, “I’ve been a Hamburg student since kindergarten and I’m now in 9th grade.” Being here for so many years has helped her get to know a lot of people and feel comfortable at school.
Ava is also involved in a lot of activities. She plays field hockey, basketball, and softball. On top of sports, she also participates in LEO Club, jewelry, Ag Science Club, and class office. Being part of so many things keeps her busy, but it also helps her stay connected to the school and other students.
When it comes to school itself, Ava says some of her favorite parts are her classes and getting to see her friends. “I like seeing my friends and bio and woodshop class,” she said. Having classes you enjoy definitely makes the school day better.
Ava also mentioned a few people at school who have made an impact on her. “Probably Mrs. Horrigan or Shane,” she said when asked who stands out to her the most.
To stay positive during the day, Ava reminds herself that school is only part of her day. “Remember that school is only from 7–2 and I have a whole life away from it,” Ava said. This mindset helps her stay relaxed and keep a good attitude even when school gets stressful.
Students like Ava help make our school a better place by staying involved and bringing positive energy to the people around them.
