A perfect day in the life for 9th grader Ella Thompson would look like this: Wake up early and go see the rabbits she raises, then hangout with her friends for a few hours before having her favorite meal, Chick Fil A.
Ella was born on March 22 and will turn 15 later this month. She is a big animal lover with a dog named Maxwell, an assortment of chickens, and of course the family of rabbits her friends like to dress up and name. Ella is incredibly dedicated to music, a member of the orchestra since third grade, she joined the pit for the musical Mary Poppins last year and plans to do so again in the following years to come. A true jack of all trades, Ella’s talent does not stop at Viola; she’s a future graphic artist bound for BCTC. She has been drawing since she could hold a pencil and notebook. In elementary school where we met, Ella and I wrote short stories on the playground that she would illustrate and the rest is history.
Her favorite way to spend free time is browsing Barnes and Noble and reading said books. Her top four novels are The Great Gatsby, Cujo, and Pride and Prejudice. She always enjoys, in her words, “weird poetry that has weird allegories.” She is shy to strangers but those who know her know Ella has a mighty, hilarious personality.
Teagan Gatley says, “She’s literally my brother from another mother and one of the best artists I’ve ever met.”
In the future, Ella would like to be famous for “Something important that I did, I don’t know what though.” With all that skill, I am sure she will be.
