Kaleigh Phillips – 10
We are recognizing senior Carter Doan for being a hardworking and involved senior at HAHS. Carter really shows what it means to be a Hawk by staying positive, working hard, and being a part of school activities.
Carter is currently in twelfth grade and has “been attending Hamburg since sixth grade.” During his time here, he has been involved in different activities. Right now, he is a member of Student Council, and he was also on the football team. Carter explained, “I am currently involved in Student Council. I was also on the football team, but an injury unfortunately brought my season to an early end.” Even though that was tough, Carter did not let it bring him down and stayed involved in school.
When it comes to classes, Carter said his favorite is woodshop with Mr. Borger. He said, “The thing I enjoy most at school is woodshop with Mr. Borger because it gives me a chance to be creative, work with my hands, and learn useful skills.” It is a class that he looks forward to during the school day.
Carter also tries to stay positive every day. He explained, “I stay positive by focusing on the good things in my day, keeping a good mindset, and reminding myself that challenges don’t last forever.” Having this kind of mindset helps him stay motivated and get through anything difficult.
Carter also shared advice for other students. He said, “The advice I would give to other students is to always take a deep breath and relax, because you are never alone and there are always people here to support you.”
Overall, Carter Doan is a great example of a positive and involved student at Hamburg. We are proud to recognize him in this month’s student spotlight.
