Lucky and unlucky numbers are not entirely popular nowadays, however, they are numbers that some students find superstitious in both positive and negative ways. These numbers could be tied to events, or people could just overall believe good or bad things happen around certain numbers.
Riley Mohn, for one, is a senior at HAHS who strongly believes in good luck numbers. She believes her lucky numbers are 7 and 13 because “The best things in my life have to do with sevens. My bus has always been 7, I got with my boyfriend on March 7, and 7 am and 7 pm are both wonderful times in my opinion.” She also says 13 is a lucky number of hers since she typically finds the numbers 7 and 13 together before something really good happens in her life.
Twighla Keppley, a Sophomore at Hamburg, also believes numbers can be lucky and unlucky. Her two lucky numbers are 8 and 9, and her bad luck number is 2.
There are other seniors that believe in lucky and unlucky numbers, too. Andrew Koval, for example, believes that 12 is his lucky number since it has shown up in his video games before he got a lucky or rare item, and 8 is his unlucky number because he “lost a game of Blackjack 6 times in a row because it started with a hand of 8.” Madden Dietrich says her lucky number is 13 “based on good vibes” like the thirteenth day of the month being a wonderful day. Delaney Muller believes that 18 is her lucky number because “it was my sports number in elementary”, and 13 is her unlucky number due to “bad days” connected to 13.
