Mrs. McCarthy is the Publications teacher at Hamburg Area High School and was previously an English teacher, Librarian, and a Gifted teacher. She is also the leader of LEO club and is involved in many activities with the student body. She has been teaching in Hamburg for 31 years and has had some of the students’ parents.
Her favorite part about teaching is seeing the students growth and creativity from grade nine to twelve. She loves seeing how much they learn from her class and evolve as young writers.
She has a lot of hobbies and interests but she really loves to travel. Her favorite trip was in 2022 when they visited Israel. She said it was such a unique location with amazing sights to see such as unique historical places, and nothing compared to the food. Another big factor was the nice weather and getting to experience the culture.
Besides traveling she loves gardening, cooking, helping animals and people. She also helps train young puppies for The Seeing Eye and has had many. She raises them and brings them to school for socialization and training and ensures they are good around kids and people before they head off to The Seeing Eye.
