Winter disrupts the sleep cycle

Winter+disrupts+the+sleep+cycle

Winter is here, but it does not feel like it. Winter occurs when the Earth’s axis points away from the sun, which is the reasoning for why seasons occur and why some places on Earth are always hot or cold.

According to www.weather.gov, almost every place on Earth has about 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night. This is an estimate of course. In order to accompany this, there is this thing called daylight savings time. Daylight savings disrupts the sleep schedule and causes mental struggles within adults and teens. Although the United States has debated on keeping daylight savings time, as of now it is still in action. The original reason for this circumstance was to conserve energy during the war time. It helps people make more use of the daylight rather than working in the dark.

Scientists from www.sleepfoundation.org,  have proven that losing an hour of sleep is bad for one’s mental health, it disrupts the humans sleeping patterns, and it jumps the circadian rhythms out of the normal track. The circadian clock is an internal clock in the brain that goes through. It is when the brain responds to the light changes in the environment.
