On April 19, Hamburg Area High School’s most accomplished juniors were inducted into the Hamburg chapter of the National Honor Society. The ceremony was held at Hamburg High’s auditorium and inducted 31 new students into this scholarly program.

The ceremony was led by current National Honor Society officers Isabella Denatala, Ryan Daly, Jacob Engel, Emma Christman and Taylor Swartley. Each leader spoke about the importance of the pillars of the National Honor Society, these being scholarship, character, leadership and service. The speeches were concluded with remarks from advisor, Mrs. Bucheit and principal Dr. Beissel to the senior’s accomplishments during the school year and the upcoming senior’s future efforts.

Each inductee was able to sign the book of society members and received an official National Honor Society pin to wear as an emblem of their membership. Students then recited the oath to commemorate their dedication to scholarship, character, leadership and service during the next school year and every year thereafter. The ceremony concluded with celebratory refreshments and a social gathering between new and old members as well as family and friends.

“It’s definitely a unique experience,” says current member Hadrien Schiffert. “It feels like you’ve accomplished something important. I hope that they continue to serve the community the best they can,” says Schiffert. “I really enjoyed the NHS and helping my community, and I hope the upcoming members feel the same.”
