There are many different forms of music and artists who make different music. Music is very popular and important to many students. Those who enjoy the same kind of music can relate to artists and form bonds and connections. People can learn about new kinds of music from others that they will enjoy as well. Many artists exist in these types of music and people enjoy different artists that they feel they can relate to or connect with or they simply just enjoy the pieces they create. This is important because music is a big part of our community at school and many communities throughout the world. 

     HAHS sophomore Riley Mohn says her favorite artist is Melanie Martinez because she likes her music and says she can relate to it with her songs and lyrics. Riley says music is important to her because it helps her focus and calm her thoughts. She likes many different genres of music except for new rap or “twangy” country music. She is more interested in alternative and indie pop like the kind that Melanie makes. Riley says she was introduced to this artist on Youtube during quarantine. 

     Another sophomore, Emma Moylan, says her favorite band is TV Girl  because they make music that resonates with her. She says,“From their sound to their lyrics, I love them,” Music is very important to Emma because it adds a new element of meaning and communication. It is also an escape from reality which is very comforting to her. Emma enjoys indie or jazz style of music but it all really depends on the mood she is in. She learned of TV Girl from the recommended spot on Spotify and now she loves their indie style of music they make.
