How to find the perfect college
June 11, 2018
Let’s face it- college is not for everyone. But for the students who do plan to continue their education at a college or university, the “big decision” is certainly a tricky one. Upcoming juniors and seniors will soon face the continuous question, “So, where do you think you’re going to school?” Here is how to find the perfect school to spend four years (and thousands of dollars) at!
The first step in finding a perfect match is location, location, location. Close to home? Out of state? Maybe even international? Are all questions to ask when looking at schools. Lots of state universities will offer a discounted tuition to in-state students, so if there is no college already in mind, maybe look at in-state schools. However, lots of students see the pleasure in having the opportunity to go far from home and leave Pennsylvania behind. If this is the case, think about what move-in will be like and how far a commute holidays will be. Also think about things that are close to the school in mind, because colleges closer to cities usually become more expensive. However, these schools have the added bonus of having a major city for internships and other opportunities.
Another thing to think about is what kind of match is this school. What type of people are going to this school? Are they like people from Hamburg, and will they be compatible? Do they have the same interests and will they make good peers? The only way to truly find this out is to visit. By visiting a wide variety of schools, it is easy to determine what type of school is the perfect fit. Even if a college may not seem like a match, it is still important to visit and give it a shot. In the same token, a university might seem like a great pairing, and then you get there and it is not as perfect as it seemed. Visiting schools is a sure-fire way to determine which school or which type of school is the perfect match.
