Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Gaul

Sara Fitzgerald, Pinnacle Senior Editor

Mr. Brett Gaul has been a math teacher at Hamburg Area High School since 2011. Mr. Gaul has taught Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Consumer Math. He previously taught at Northern Lebanon for eight years. There he taught Keystone Algebra, Algebra I, Probability, and Statistics, Geometry, and AP Probability and Statistics. Mr. Gaul got his degree, a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and Masters’s in Secondary Education, from Albright College and loved meeting new people. He had tutored his peers and underclassmen in high school and his freshman year of college. This is where he found his calling. Mr. Gaul had been inspired by his 11th-grade math teacher at Schuylkill Haven, Jeff Chillot to teach more than just the material required by the state. This teacher had excellent relationships with his students and pushed them to work harder.

Mr. Gaul’s favorite thing about teaching is the relationships he builds with his students. He is more than willing to help them in more ways than a normal teacher.

Mr. Gaul is married to Heather Gaul, who is a medical case manager, and has two kids, Logan and Leo. He believes his family is strong-willed and loving.
