Sadie Haines, Business Manager

Horrid is a frightening, mind twisting book. A basic summary of the book is, a girl and her mother move to an old house that they inherited from her grandmother. The town they move to in Maine is creepy and weird things happen there. Ever since they moved there, weird things have been happening to the girl and her mother. Her mother is convinced that it is nothing big and it is just the house settling because it is so old. The girl, Jane, disagrees with her mother and full-heartedly thinks that the house is haunted and that it is the ghost of her deceased sister coming back to haunt her. The book is written by author Katrina Leno, who has written other teen novels such as Everything All At Once, Summer of Salt, and The Half Life of Molly Pierce.

I very much enjoyed this book. It is a fast, easy read for anyone who just needs a little light reading. I really liked how creepy it was and it really made me think. The plot was all over the place, but in a good way. It was interesting to connect all of the details of the plot that were scattered throughout the scenes in the book. The ending has a huge plot twist that really surprised me.

The book was very well written and there was barely a lull in the story. There was always something going on that was important to the story. It is one of those books that when someone is done reading it, they would have to sit for a few minutes and attempt to comprehend the plot and what was going on. I would recommend this book for people who enjoy horror movies. I would also recommend this book for any age that is able to read a long book that has 322 pages in it. The book would be more suited for teenagers, as there are some topics that children would not understand.

One thing that I did not enjoy about this book was that there were a couple of holes in the plot. There were some parts that had nothing to do with the plot and just seemed like filler. There were also some things that were missing that would have been necessary to fully understand the ending of the book.
