Many girls and boys at Hamburg would be interested in playing volleyball, but HAHS does not have a program. There are many different factors that play into the decision not to have a volleyball program. At HAHS, there are already five girls sports offered in the fall. The issue with adding another sport is that then not as many people will participate in the sports that are already offered. High school volleyball is typically played in the fall for girls and the spring for boys. It would be unfair to either gender if the school was to just add one sport. HAHS does not have an opportunity for children to play volleyball through other schools because we do not have a cooperative sponsorship with another school, and transportation would be hard.

Many students would love to play volleyball, including Morgan Lutz. She states that volleyball would be a nice extracurricular activity in the fall. Morgan participates in softball in the spring and wants a way to get exercise in the off season. Kamryn Witman and Maile Bentz are other students who would be interested in participating in volleyball. For students who are interested, there are several volleyball clubs they can join. Surge Volleyball in Fleetwood is close and teaches people how to play the sport.

Other schools near Hamburg that have volleyball programs are Wyomissing, Fleetwood, and Antietam.
