Celebrating New Years traditions

Going into a new year can be a big deal for people because it lets them start over mentally and physically. Because of this most people like to end the year and start the new year doing something special. A very common thing to do at the end of the year is throw a party. People invite their friends and family and celebrate the ending of the year. Another thing people do when they go to parties and get together is traditions. Some traditions are so common people might not even realize they are doing them.

This year Princess Padilla, a sophomore in high school, is having a party at her aunt’s house on New Year’s Eve to round the new year in. This is a tradition that happens every year but not just on New Year, every holiday. When she is there she cooks food with all her family then they eat. The rest of the night they spent time socializing.

On the other hand some families have some traditions that they do. Some traditions represent having good luck, for example kissing as the clock strikes 12:00. This is said to strengthen the bond between the two people. In Colombia people eat 12 grapes and it is supposed to give them good luck. In Brazil people eat a pomegranate for good luck.

In hopes of good luck for the new year it is very common for New Years traditions to represent good luck. It is also common for traditions to represent fortune in hopes of becoming rich. Traditions can range depending on what part of the world people are in so it is fascinating to see some of the things people do. Whether people realize it or not they most likely participate in traditions whether it be a popular one or one specific to them.
