When I think of Valentine’s day, I think of love and romantic relationships, but that is not the only thing that some people think of when they think of Valentine’s day.

Three high school students, Morgan Riegel, John Sharp, and Gavin Dougherty from Hamburg Area High School and one teacher, Mrs. McCarthy, shared their thoughts. When Morgan thinks about Valentine’s day, she thinks of it being a day to show love for the people close to her.

John thinks of hearts when thinking about Valentine’s day as they are a staple in any love relationship.

Mrs. McCarthy also thinks about hearts when thinking about Valentine’s day, but also that it is a day to celebrate the focus on love relationships.

When Gavin thinks about Valentine’s day, he thinks of significant others that are there for each other and that love each other, but he also thinks of the heart-shaped boxes of chocolates that people can buy at the store.

As much as the answers by these four people differed in their own way, they also related in one main connection, love. This day has been claimed to be a day for showing love in relationships with family, friends, and pets, it is just that some people can interpret love and what they think of it differently, like Valentine’s day. It can be interpreted as hearts, giving gifts or expressing love.
