Hamburg has a new intern counselor Mr. Pettit. He went to Kutztown University for his bachelors in clinical counseling psychology and sociology and got a minor in criminal justice. He is currently in a program for a masters for school counseling and graduates this May. In total it comes to about seven years of schooling.

Mr. Pettit says, “I chose this field of school counseling because I enjoy helping students with areas of social, emotional, academic, and career. I believe in advocating for students to make sure their voices are heard. I know that some students dislike school, so I want to find things they enjoy to make their experience more meaningful.”

Mr. Pettit did a practicum (mini internship) at Hamburg Area Middle School and enjoyed it, which is why he chose to do his internship at the high school. He has been enjoying being here with the awesome students and faculty.
