Doja Cat is a rapper, singer, and songwriter known for blending hip-hop, pop, and R&B. She stands out from other artists because of her bold personality. Her albums Hot Pink and Planet Her helped kick start her music career. Her newest album, Vie, came out on September 26, 2025, and fans had been waiting for it since last fall. The album has a mix of 80’s sounds with modern day music, which makes it feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. It is different from her older stuff but still her.
Unlike her last album Scarlet, which had no features, Vie actually has one feature, and it is SZA. Their song “Take Me Dancing” is fun and upbeat, and it definitely fits the vibe of the album. I would describe it as a disco sounding song that makes people want to dance. Another song titled “Stranger” is more emotional and deep. In this song, Doja talks about not caring what other people think is “normal” and how she does not care if people call her or her relationships “weird.” The song “Jealous Type” came out before the album as a single and was a big hit. Hailee Riggeal’s favorite song is Jealous Type and she said it is because of how exciting it is. Hailee said “Ever since I heard the song when it first came out, it just made me even more excited to hear the album.”
This album shows how good Doja Cat is at mixing different sounds and styles. Even though SZA is the only feature, the album still feels complete because of Doja’s personality and her talent. Even if someone is a fan or has not even heard of her, I think this is a great album to take a listen to.
