Hamburg Area High School welcomes back a former student to fill the role of a para professional staff member. Ms. Bertschy has always had an interest in education and helping students. She enjoys learning from the kids just as much as helping them. This experience is still new territory for her, but she finds this new challenge a rewarding experience. Ms. Bertschy has always had a passion for teaching along with helping students. She hopes to make them feel comfortable and view her as a trustworthy person. The students are so nice, and Ms. Bertschy appreciates the honesty they give back to her, anything to help her out even more. “I would like to be considered and looked upon as a safe space for all of the students,” she explains. Ms. Bertschy just loves the environment here in the high school, and she finds herself staying here for a while.
Mrs. Weiss, helps Ms. Bertschy along the way of getting to know things about the students. Mrs. Weiss started working in Perry Elementary School in 1998 and started working at Hamburg Area High School in 2020. It was nice to see how the kids have grown up, since seeing them in elementary school. Mrs. Weiss brings up how Ms. Bertschy has been doing a great job here at the high school. She mentions how Ms. Bertschy is patient and willing to do anything to help out the students. “Ms. Bertschy has no problem taking our students outside for certain activities, she is just so helpful,” Mrs. Weiss assures. She absolutely believes that Ms. Bertschy should stay here for a while at the high school.
