Mrs. Dommel is the art program teacher at HAHS who has been working here for 21 years. She teaches ceramics and 3D design (advanced and non.), drawing (advanced and non.), painting (advanced and non.), and studio art.
She graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School, and before being a teacher, she had two other jobs: working at Crayola and working at an art gallery. Outside of teaching, Mrs. Dommel is a mother of two kids: Cole, who is 13 years old, and Hana who is 11 years old.
Before teaching at HAHS, she taught at a private school for a year. Out of all of her classes, she has no favorite, seeing as she loves all of her classes equally. Mrs. Dommel’s favorite thing about teaching is the versatility of being able to work with a variety of students in the world of art. Her reason for teaching the classes she does is because it gives her students an opening to new creative opportunities, as well as that she is able to help students reach their greatest creative potential.
Mrs. Dommel wished to be an art teacher to inspire creativity in young people and bring beauty to the world as well as the point that she hopes to develop her creative skillset to lead students to the best way possible to different creative pathways. She enjoys a wide variety of art mediums and is able to channel that through her art classes: digital arts, ceramics and glass work, drawing, and painting. Along the topic of arts, her inspirational people that inspire her creative spirits included her art teachers, Goergis O’Keefe, and the old painting masters Van Gogh and Michelangelo.
