It is officially spooky season here in the Hamburg Area and students are ready to celebrate. Time to wear oversized sweaters, drink apple cider, carve a pumpkin, and rewatch a scary movie. Nothing says October like that sigh of relief when the protagonist finally escapes their killer. . . or the gasp when they don’t. Could our Hawks survive the fright of their lives and make it to the end of horror movie?
To begin, we asked about 10 to 15 freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and staff the same question; “If you were a character in a horror movie, could you live until the end?” Here’s what each had to say. The freshmen are in favor of definitely not making it to a clean getaway. All ten agreed they would panic, well, except Ava Lole who replied “Heck yeah!” to her survival chances. This pattern repeated in the sophomores and juniors, a general negative reception with a few outliers. Junior Sid Bonning says, “No, I wouldn’t survive. No one can get me run for anything.”
The seniors had a bit more confidence in their odds. This time around yes had the greatest supporters. Tia Adam explains, “Yes, because I’d just leave the state.” Finally, the staff of HAHS staff are confident in their abilities to fight off some killers. Mrs. Eshbach, Mrs. Bucheit, Mrs. Herman, and Mr. Haegle all agreed they would be just fine in a horror, which would definitely be an interesting movie. Mrs. McCarthy and Mrs. Trubillia both disagree, jokingly claiming that they would be frozen and the first one gone.
This Halloween, have hauntingly good time and stay safe out there!
