Many students at Hamburg have unique names, while others have similar names to someone else. For instance, nine students are named some variation of the name Riley, but there are five different spellings or versions. Other ways to spell it are seen from students like Ryleigh Scholl, a senior, or Reiley Jozefick.
The most popular of the five different versions is the unisex spelling, which is Riley. Mostly, men are named with the spelling of Riley, though there are quite a few women with that spelling too. Riley Frantz, a girl with the spelling of Riley, said, “There was a girl in BCTC named Riley, and it was so terribly confusing because they would use our first names and not refer to us by our last names.” She said her mom just picked the name Riley because it sounded pretty. Riley Frantz said, “I started to get into the habit of pointing at myself to make sure if they were or weren’t talking to me when someone called out Riley!”
There are also people with other variations of the name Riley, as seen by Rylee Strunk. Rylee said her parents were going to name her Emma, but she said, “they changed their minds last minute, and they loved the meaning of Rylee, which is courage.” She does not get confused often with people named Riley, however, she gets confused with people named Kylee, because she can never hear the K in Kylee.
There are also people with the name ‘Riley’ as part of their name, like Rileyanne Fisher. Rileyanne said she does get confused when people call out for Briley Reinhart, as Riley is also part of the name Briley. Rileyanne said, “I was named after my great grandmother Anne Margaret, since my full name is Rileyanne Margaret Fisher.”
