On August sixth 2015, Hamilton officially opened on Broadway. Musical fans across the world have recognized Hamilton as one of the top musicals of this time. In fact, Hamilton has won 11 Tony Awards, one Grammy, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and seven Olivier awards. On August sixth 2025, Hamilton celebrated its ten year anniversary of coming to Broadway. To commemorate, Hamilton returned to theaters across the globe. Leslie Odom Jr., the original actor of Aaron Burr is also returning for a few months to take up the classic beloved role.
For the United States, viewings started September fifth. For the rest of the world, viewings will start at a later time. This new theatrical release includes a new part which adds new interviews with the cast members as they reflect on the musical and its impact. Lin Manuel Miranda, the creator and director of Hamilton is donating all funds produced by the musical to Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition. Many immigrants can draw connections to their own experiences with Alexander Hamiton’s in regards to him being an American immigrant.
Leslie Odom Jr. has also been in the spotlight recently after returning as Aaron Burr on Broadway. It is no secret just how much this musical means to him. He said in an earlier statement, “Returning to Hamilton is a deeply meaningful homecoming. I’m so grateful for the chance to step back into the room—especially during this anniversary moment—and to revisit this brilliant piece that forever changed my life and the lives of so many.” When he began acting he was just 17 years old. He made his Broadway debut in Rent and has been an actor for 25 years since. His dedication to theater is truly an inspiration for any young actor who wishes to someday be on Broadway.
