Hamburg Area School District’s Superintendent, Dr. Beissel, has set big goals for our school district this year. He has decided to take a strategic path to make our school elite. Dr. Beissel stated his main focus this year is prioritizing the core classes across the school district; such as English, Math, Science, and History and making sure they are as strong as possible. His other strategic approach is prioritizing grades K-5. One main focus in the elementary school is working with the elementary teachers and getting their opinion when working on the new program. Dr. Beissel states, “When building a house, you must start with the foundation and work your way up.” That exactly describes his approach to focus on K-5 first then work his way up through the middle and high school. In middle school the main goal is working on “Amplify ELA” in the 6th grade classrooms. In high school, his main focus is improving attendance.
He is most looking forward to seeing the growth of the faculty and students. In Dr. Beissel’s first year as superintendent, he took the initiative to begin one of his first large projects, looking at the high school and seeing what things, even simple things, can be fixed or renovated. Dr. Beissel believes our school district holds great opportunities for change and lots of potential.
President of the HASD school board, Ryan Gebely, says Dr. Beissel is a pleasure to work alongside and has been a great help on our district’s journey to make this school elite. Gebely also stated one of Beissel’s best qualities is his ability to help guide our school through uncertainty and challenge. Dr. Beissel’s long term goals for all the schools in our district is to see growth all around. He sees an elite future for our school and students. He is on the right track to make Hamburg the school of choice.
