The senior students at Hamburg Area High School have noticed changes in their school and how it functions. Seniors have different opinions on what has changed the most during their high school years. One senior, Azaria Enoch, stated, “I think the most changed thing when it came to the school has been the events.” Another senior, Riley Mohn, said, “I believe that the largest change in my four years of being at Hamburg was the shift from everyone having a Chromebook bag to only those in classes that required a Windows machine. Seeing people using the Chromebook bag as their pencil case, to almost everyone carrying a pencil case, was a huge shift.”
Another topic about the high school that often changes is classes. Class changes can involve many different aspects. Azaria again remarked, “The classes throughout the years became more strict, I would say. They had to have more policies in each classroom due to many things happening, such as a kid throwing a cupcake at a wall in my Geometry class last year.” Riley again shared her views on the topic, “Seeing the Computer-related classes like Game Design turn into five optional electives was quite interesting to see, but necessary with the changing times.”
Opinions on school changes vary; some say the variety has increased, others feel the classes are more strict, and for good reason. Overall, students seem to share similar thoughts and questions about school changes. Over the years, the seniors have had plenty of time to consider how their school has adapted to problems that have arisen and the compromises that have been necessary to make the school what it is today.
