As a new school year rolls around, many are excited to celebrate Friday with Hamburg Area High School football games. We had the privilege to have three home football games in a row. With a great football game comes an even greater theme. The first game was military night, the most anticipated game where helicopters fly in, parachutes deploy, and tanks are on the move. Player 44, Mason Strunk, says, “The best piece of advice my coaches gave before the game was to show out for all the military people and officers there to support us along with the fans.”
Hamburg played against Midd-West with a close score of 22-21. With a good football game comes a good student section. Having the students hype during the game can boost the energy on the field dramatically. Mason said, “The kind of energy I expect the fans to bring is a lot of screaming and energy as if they were out playing the sport themselves and helping keep us going.” If we have a healthy fan base, maybe that can give our players a healthy head space to perform to their best ability. Coach Buggy says, “We need to continue building on small successes to be more consistent.” By having something similar to “micro wins” will form a healthy habit. Consistent progress that builds momentum and confidence will build our team to be stronger together. Let us Prepare for next Friday night!
